Valentine's Day: Why is this bothering so much people?

Why are people so bothered if they don't have a valentine date? I mean they could date anyone, anytime. Guys are also bothered if they don't have surprises or gifts for their girlfriend. According to the wikipedia, Valentine's Day is a holiday observed on February 14 honoring one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. It was first established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD, and was later deleted from the General Roman Calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI.

Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.Well, what do I expect? Flowers, heart-shaped balloons and cakes, chocolates, greeting cards, and bears are on sale once again. I will see couples exchanging gifts. A guy who would surprise her girlfriend and will give her a present. A guy that would serenade and give her girlfriend a bouquet of flowers. I got used to it. It's like a routine every Valentine's day. It's not perfect if they're no flowers, balloons and cakes. Wear red. Because every Valentine's day, I think everyone is wearing red. It symbolizes love, as what they said. Many couples would celebrate it. I hope their relationships would become stronger. Give love. It's the love month. Don't be bitter if you don't have a date. Just smile, relax and maybe there would come a guy that will ask you to be his date. Or maybe you could just celebrate it with yourself. No, just kidding. You could go out with your friends or your family. Try to enjoy Valentine's day. It's only once a year. :)
